College Bound
Purpose: College Bound is a new program that began in the spring of 2012. The learners will participate in each event in 3s- two Bugg students and 1 college student will spend the day in teams as they go through the activities.

Support from NC State, Shaw University, St. Augustine’s College, Worthdale Community Center and Whole Foods
How do we get the word out and people in?
· Weekly newsletter – classroom teachers responsible for sharing the information
· Flyers from school- created by a staff member, sent home with students
· Website- information posted on main website
· School messenger- phone calls home (automatic)
· Local newspaper- send in the information
· Invites- send to folks of choice (mayor, school board, superintendent)
· Colleges will spread the word through their classes
People In
· Service hours- volunteers/college students
· Mentor opportunities
· College ready preparation
· Lunch for volunteers
· Media
· College representatives
· Health and Wellness representatives
Staff expectations for the event
· Event will be planned by the Traditions Committee and the physical education specialist
· Agenda/program will be created by the team
· Evaluation (student , teacher, volunteer) will be created by the planning team
· Newsletters and media communications created by planning team
· All staff will attend the event
· All staff will help to get the word out through weekly newsletters and other forms of communication
· Staff members will be assigned “jobs” for the day
· Classroom teachers will be with their classes during the events of the day
· Lunch provided to volunteers (staff or PTA??)
Parent Involvement
· Parent volunteers to assemble supplies
· Parent volunteers to assemble college materials
· Parent volunteers to assist with activities
· Parents volunteers to assist with serving lunch to volunteers

· Other political figures-June Atkinson, the Mayor, School Board members, the Governor
Evaluation
· There will be evaluations for all involved: student, teacher, volunteer.

· Perhaps a written one for the students (esp. younger grades, older grade may have an online)
